Help please

Hi All, i'm on the scrounge for a couple of bits ......

To save me from a patience testing trip to my local Ford parts desk has anyone got a spare sierra front hub grease cap and std length (40mm long?)wheel stud in good nick please? Any help appreciated.

I tried to scrounge some dust caps a while ago and it didnt work! they are hard to come by.

When i refurbished my front uprights i fitted new wheel bearings and i destroted my dust caps getting them out as they were badly corroded.

So i went to my local ford who had one in stock but couldnt order me another as he said they cant get one as they are discontinued. He apparantly tried all the other ford dealers stock and nobody had one.

A couple of weeks later he rang me saying he luckily found me another :D

So ford is prob your best bet if you find someone who is genuinely helpful they may be able to get you one. They were only about £3 each.

Good luck

Ford do still supply these!! Half time the parts guys can't be bothered looking. I'll get you the part number later.

cheers - being able to quote them a part might just counter their 'unhelpfulness' !

the dust caps are still readily available as a spare part because they used them on the granada for several years after sierra production stoped. They should be around £6 plus vat.

The part no. on my invoice is 6142524 they are £2.91 ex vat

Hopefully it was just an uninterested worker at the parts dept who said they cant get them anymore.

Sorry it took me a while to get the invoice but see someone beat me to it!! If you still have a problem even with the part number I'll order for you and stick in the post.

Follow up to last weeks plea - part no. waved hopefully at the new face behind the counter "no problem sir, tomorrow morning OK?" and the front hub lip seals that, when inquired about a month got me a response of "probably don't do them anymore" had turned up as well. Not cheap though.....:(

To recap;

Grease cap part no. 6142524 £2.91 + vat
Lip oil seals part no. 1637281 £7.52 + vat

Thanks all

Chris
