Welding gas suppliers

Hi Guys.

Sombody posted over on the other side (LCB) About welding gas suppliers
I just posted this over there. though it may be of interest to someone on here:

Been onto Adamgas this morning.

They quoted me the £40 deposit on the bottle and £25.99+VAT for the gas (Argonmix)
Delivery to Rochester Kent was only two quid, so not bad at all

I also got intouch with BOC using the Volkszone link that "maskedavenger" posted,
and they quoted me the £60 all in for the Y size bottle.
But that is for the year only, you then loose the bottle.
The guy told me it will be posible to renew the hire for one year costing about £35.
The refill was £25 inc.

That's a good deal from BOC ;)

One years use should see all of the Roadster welding jobs done

£25 for a refill aint bad either.................. The robbing barstewards at BOC charge me £17 just for admin when I collect my own gas

Changed my Y size bottle at BOC yesterday - £57! That includes the £17 'admin fee' for me collecting it myself. My yearly direct debit payment is due in May. I'll cancel it then and go with Adams I think.

Cheers

BOC are robbing bar stewards, they used to charge me £10 for admin just to change a bottle, Y size. I have found a place in Hartlepool that sells me Universal Migweld gas for £35 a Z bottle, no deposit or hire. So i'm much happier now.......:) They don't deliver though...

Why not use CO2,from your local fire extinguisher company, you buy and own the bottle, refills real cheap, stronger welds, more spatter, and as bottles out of date can be picked up for real cheap you can have the 2nd one tested and always have a spare gas bottle.
I must say that I am out of touch with the very latest developments, but I did a lot of Mig welding nearly 40 years ago using a BOC Lynx CO2 welder,in those days it was called CO2 and it sure worked great so I see no reason for anything to have changed.
Last time I bought CO2 for myself the fire extinguisher Company charged me about $20 NZ for a 2nd hand tested bottle, and about $15 NZ to fill it.
But then our Government does not "print money' like the UK so we have a much cheaper price on everything. What a turn around from when everything of quality and good pricing came from England.
Of course you could all learn to arc weld and save yourselves a fortune!!
Could not resist that dig:eek: David
