well a night of head scratching and measuring for sorting the trans tunnel lol

Still none the wiser really lol

4x4's prop ain't centered so tunnel is going to have to be widened I think.

More measuring tomorrow I think lol

Just been looking at your progress pics

Now you have the engine in situ .... Have you given any thoughts as to how you are going to route the steering gear past the Transversely mounted Zetec engine

deezee 9th March 2010 12:07 PM

Wow, see what you mean Ronnie. Steering rack could be squeezed in around that engine mount, but not sure its going to sit at the correct angle to the hubs. But the steering column? Well thats going to take quite a few UJ's to twist around the engine to meet up with the drive input. I'm assuming Correl will be using the power steering rack off the donor car?

AshG 9th March 2010 12:18 PM

he is going to have to move the front wheels back by the looks of it. there is no way the drive shafts at the front are going to be froward enough to meet the hubs.

deezee 9th March 2010 01:13 PM

If the front hubs and wishbones move back to the middle of the engine compartment, then they'll need redesigning surely? Also its kind of going to make a mess of the pedal area. Wonder how this will handle with the track being 30cms wider and the base 45cms(?) shorter

correl 9th March 2010 01:14 PM

Yes the drive shafts mean the front suspension has to come back a little and the steering rack is going where it goes on the donor car behind the engine so lots easier and the rack goes at the same height as the rear engine mount if you look in the photos it will be easy

Well I have started on the engine mounts but due to mothers day it holding me back from getting on with them lol. Dam fake days lol just excuses to waste kit car budget money lol
