DOHC wiring loom update
For those building with a twinky, just to let you know just got a quote from Premier for a loom and it's £160.
I've looked through all the Ford wiring diagrams and Haynes London Underground and me thinks this will be the best option for me .... at least I then know I have a safe'r' car :) Just thought I'd post it up here in case anyone else was in the same boat Rapid |
I can't see how it relates directly to the DOHC?
The engine loom is a separate loom from the main sierra loom anyway. apart from being a little long in places it can just be used and a few hooks taken from the multi-plugs for the feeds and sensor returns. TT |
I need to ring the guy but I 'think' you send him the 3 mating connectors off the main loom that hook up to the engine loom and then he incorporates it into the full car loom... need to clarify this though.
Wish I had the confidence to do it on my own and I know a lot of people say it's easy but with no difinitive wiring diagram to work to and as mentioned tried to work it all out from ECU end I just got totally confused.... wish I understood it better but I don't so pre-made it will have to be How difficult would it be to create a custom wiring diagram as per David's in another thread? |
Ahh right, so it will be suitable for any sierra engine. Send off the body side plugs and PL splice them to their normal body loom.
There's realy only 3 wires that come out for sensor info ( Alternator, Oil , Water ) , A 12V ignition live, and most importantly the tails to the fuel pump relay. make sure the fuel pump relay is in the PL loom and controlled by these tails from the ECU. TT |
Thanks for that... out of interest do you know how many of the ECU pins would be required and what relays would need to be salavaged from the Sierra loom?
|
My web site appears to be down so I can't link the info..
The only relay you should need outside the engine loom is the fuel pump. All the ecu wire connected to the 60 pin ecu plug are needed. TT |
Website back up
ECU pinout for the non cat ECU is here. http://www.claytune.org.uk/index.php...layout=default The multiplugs are detailed in another location but relating to 24V Granadas. TT |
My donor was a cat set-up but does this have to be used on the raodster... I've seen mixed reviews !?!?
If I can build without then I'm assuming the lambda sensor is then no longer required, wuld this screw up the ECU? |

If your running the closed loop lambda ecu then yes you must run the lambda sensor. It does not have to have a CAT though.
