Saturn Bodywork

Does anyone know if Nathan is going to start doing body work again sometime or has he sold the moulds on to someone else. I am starting to think about body work and I like the saturn style especially the bonnet with the longer scoop

When I spoke to him a little while ago I believe he was keeping the moulds and would still be doing bodywork but on a smaller scale. Drop him a pm and im sure he will confirm or deny!

He told me that he intends to carry on doing bodywork when things quieten down unless someone makes him an offer he can't refuse for the moulds.

Equinox will be doing a longer scoop shortly if you want to try him.

I was interested in the molds but nathan never got back with a figure. I was just going to throw them at a local lad who is shit hot with f/g to knock out what we will need for the three kits we are doing. They could have stayed with him to supply direct to anyone wanting panels. But from what I can gather it takes a day of frigging ,sanding and polishing to make a set fit to sell so the molds sound like scrap to me , its probably the reason spud had so many seconds to get rid of. I will probably just go to one of the new boys on the block and get one set to evaluate.

Yes I wish I had but I already had a nose and scuttle and was unsure if someone else's bonnet would work I also wish I had done cash on collection

The only reason Spud had seconds is that perfect was nearly good enough...;)

Hang on, you say here that you had a full refund...

I have bought stuff off Nathan with no problem whatsoever and I had the same experience with SSC.

Nathan did give me a figure in passing when I spoke to him a while back. I don't think it appropiate to broadcast that figure publically, so I shan't :).

I doubt the moulds are scrap. They have been used commercially for 4 (or so?) years so some wear and tear would occur. Don't forget that Mark Bean made the moulds, sold panels made from them and then sold the moulds to SSC prior to NTS having them.

Considering the size of a number of the panels, I can imagine that trimming and then polishing a panel to the point where it doesn't require paint is reasonably labour intensive. I own a fair few panels, a number of which were seconds from the SSC sale last year. Apparently my front wings were seconds, but I'll be damned if I can figure out why. My rear panel was sold as a second, but there's nothing 'wrong' with it. The gelcoat is a slightly different shade to the BS colour it was supposed to be, but you wouldn't tell by looking at it on its own. A lot of the seconds panels were damaged, usually on the edges of the gelcoat. I don't think that was to do with the moulds themselves, just accidents removing them from the moulds or from being moved around in the workshop.
