MX5 rear wishbone issue
 

Has any one else managed to do this or am I the first? See pictures for issue

Managed to bend my upper wishbones, I new it had been bottoming out on bumps & I was taking the shock/spring off to see if I could get a longer spring in. The springs are 250lbs 7" long. After I have rebuilt the bones I will go to a 8" spring I think.

Has anyone gone higher on the rear spring rate?

An 8" spring is what is specified for the rear of a Saturn based chassis/arm. If bottomed out then the arm could bend in the way you've experienced.

Is the spring compressing completely though or is it hitting the bump stops do you think? Are there any witness marks on the bump stops?

Slight witness marks on the springs but not as much as you think, I am going to order some 8" springs I think

I went up to 400 on the rears on mine (with 250 on the fronts).
It was a little tail happy, but fun :) I suspect somewhere around 325-350 would be about right for the rear.

Redone the wish bones & fitted 8" springs 250lbs, no more bottoming even on the severe bumps on our roads, the old springs we're supposed to be 7" but now only measure 6 1/2" ??
Any way all you s good again & I have had to trim the rear arches again where the tyre was touching on the bumps, obviously more travel now. New wishbones holding up well.
