Top tip is don't use hole punched sheet at speed it effectively becomes an air brake and will fight against it's mounting(s) till it breaks it, google stainless 'pulled sheer mesh' it's the stuff that plasters use to fill holes.

If you are as tight as me you may give this a go http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Galvanised-Metal-Mesh-Lath-2500x700mm/p/104089?CAWELAID=120135120000007050&CAGPSPN=pla&utm _source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=&utm_campai gn=Product+Listing+Ads&tmcampid=104&tmad=c&tmplace ref=&tmcustom=mkwid|W5fPyZGt_dc|pcrid|7531858372|& gclid=CjwKEAjwl7ieBRCK2rCtqcCS7jESJACZKQFKFC5zG2aJ N9WbGfnh_KM0u731-Ex1Nj1sSD7N_zOrsBoCwojw_wcB
Cheaper than chips but would need painting so it's not for everybody. |
I found a 500 x 500 piece of the stuff they use on Jags/Caddilacs and it did the main nosecode gap and the oil filter gap on my car.
More expensive and a bitch to work with but it was worth it for me. Also IVA were impressed with it while giving it a prod. Cheers Stot |

I'm sorry to high jack this thread for a related question :o .
I have bought the same kind of grid as David if I refer to the picture on the link, but now, I'm wondering how to attach it to the nose cone? I thought about cutting it larger than the nose cone hole, folding the edges, and glue them to the inside of the edge/lip of the nose cone with (Sikaflex). would this be acceptable? How did you guys attached yours? Thanks :) |

http://www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.u...-adhesive.aspx It's very sticky! Chris, I have looked in my garage and there isn't enough left for a grill as I had a couple of failed attempts first. David |

Might struggle if I ever need to remove it though  |
Thanks for the reply and the link David. But I think I will go with the Sikaflex as Skov did.
Thanks for the tip John ;) |
For nose cone mesh go to b&q. Yes I know, I was shocked as well ! They have it in the big stores around the tool section. I bought a big sheet for my nose cone for £12 in gold. It was just the ticket to motivate a weekends work on the car. I got the old tiger seal out, & the job is a good un ! Other colours were available, just loved the colour after seeing the Lotus f1 car. :D

Thanks for the recommendations. Bought this in the end as it was the right size and cheap.

I've constructed the "grill" from a number of shiny stainless steel strips that I bought in the local DIY shop. They are meant for covering the transition of carpet in one room to carpet in another.
Bits of an old tentpole as spacers (hacksawn in an angle) and 3 treaded (M4) rods to hold everything in place in the GRP nosecone. The pictures aren't very good I' afraid but they show the idea. Eddy |
