Box section end caps....
Does anyone know how many open ends there are on a chassis??
(Or how many caps are needed to block the open ends of the chassis) Bertie. |
I think from memory it is 8. Why not just weld a piece of plate on to cap the box. It is what Gus and I did.

12 i reckon

Don't go by the sketch up drawings in the book as they are not the same as the tech drawings, its 10 and they are as follows
Top tube of the front frame FF4 x2 Bottom tube of the front frame FF1 x2 Intersection of BR5+6+12 x2 Ends of SB2 x2 Ends of RS14 x2 |
As Phil says 10,
but its 12 if you are fitting a GRP rear tub .....the ends of the extra spar ( that I call GRP1 ), tho I would suggest welding steel plates on the end of this spar ( as Gus & Dave have done ) as if fitting a plastic end cap it "May" make it a very tight fit for the inside radius where the GRP tub meets that spar ( the plastic end caps tend to sit a approx 5mm proud). cheers andy |
i was thinking of leaving mine open and useing cavity wax inside the tubes

Thanks for the replies.....

The 4 in the front frame and the 2 at the end of BR5+6 could be plugged using plastic caps. The ones in SB2 and RS14 could just be filled with a piece of 20x20 box turned side ways and held in with silicone.
