Steering column

Hi i am about to weld up the steering column support and decided that it my be a good idea to purchase a steering column to help mockup and get the position right. When looking recently i became puzzled by what year car i should take one from 83-87,87-90,90 onwards or does it really matter? any help on the matter would be great.

Thanks

DaveyB

I didn't think they were really any different but I could be wrong? Mine came out of a 93.

I've got a spare steering column. No idea what year it is though!
It's not in great condition, but would do as a mock up if nothing else.
Think I paid a tenner for it, and wouldn't mind getting that back.
Might cost a bit to post though, unless you could pick up from Cambridge.

89> is an adjustable column.

<87 MK1 has a different style key but not sure if the barrel housing is any different.
