ABS interior panels?

Good or bad idea? ABS sheet panels around the transmission tunnel in lieu of Alu. Probably 2mm thick.

I'm just thinking if I do it in Alu I'd probably want to cover with something. In a good ABS it could be a finished job.

What you think?

JimmyD,

my initial response would be; have you considered what happens when a nut/bolt comes of a U/J or the prop. shaft fails?

One is very close to some fast moving steel when nestled in a Roadster next to the tranmission tunnel.

I think I'd rather have the ally than the ABS in this case.

Yep, been thinking about that. If something lets go I can't see that 1.2mm Ally will make that much difference, it's going to hurt.

I'm sure some of the more technically minded listers will be able to give spec's in relation to Ally v's ABS. I know many people in other marqes have opted for carbon fibre.

I'll most likely stick with Ally but thought I'd ask the question.

why not add more transmission tunnel hoops to stop prop flailing? Then it will be more saferer :-) then cover in owtchawant
