Lights always on

I need help to find out why my light are permantly on. I have used a 89 sierra column switch assembly and made my own loom. Other than the headlight issue every thin else works OK.

The sierra switch turns the side light on and off, but the headlights come on without using the switch. I have got the problem done to being in the dip circuit, but cant find out what it is. The dip relay is as as follows
86 to 56b on sierra stalk
85 to swithed live
30 to permanent live
87 to fuse.
Circuit looks similar to David Murray's

85 and 86 are the trigger for the relay (switch it on)
87 is the input and 30 is the output for the relay (switch)

I'm assuming on the other side of the fuse are the lights?
Check what you are getting at each terminal
I thought that pin 56 goes to earth on the stalks but it should be switched only on dipped and main beam.
Hope that helps in some way

Many thanks, that set me in the right direction and every thing works as it should.
Cheers,
Ken

When it comes to wiring the fog, it can't be the same as the sierra for iva (or my 06 focus) and only come on when you have dipped or main beams on.
I've just done it like this and it works perfectly, using the switched earth to trigger the relay rather than switching the live

Strange, my continental spec 1987 Sierra had the fog light wired so it only comes on with the dipped beams... I have just recreated the Sierra schematics, effectively.

I think you are right Albert, only with dip and not main for MOT if I remember correctly.

for iva rear fog must work with dip and main and note to say it can work with dip alone :p
