Look what I just made......
 

Hope no one minds me gloating, but look what I just built.:D :D :D Only took a few hours to solder the whole Megajolt kit together. Thought all those surface mount components would be a nightmare but they were quite easy in the end. Also the the shift light set and now just waiting for the hard rev limiter to arrive to finish the job off.

I realy miss the good old distributor,simple and easy to make it run without much effort.....those where the days. Hats off all those that under stand all this techy stuff, me I'm sticking to mechical type engineering.

mine is megajolted and i actually thought it was easier than a dizzy setup. the instant tuneability is something you coud never match on a dizzy

well done david. next step is to build the hard cut board. its more simple to do than the mjv4 board but its tricky to do the linkjumper wires and get it all in the same case. i will post some picts up once i get the desktop running. psu decided to flop on me.

Thanks for all the comments guys - having played with some expensive ECU's before I really enjoy the electrical side of car building. As Ash says the beauty of the system is the ease of adjustment. I'm also going to knock one of these up - http://autospeed.com/cms/article.html?&A=0353and at some point will sort out some Lambda measurement gear.

Ash - pics of your hard rev limiter installation would be very useful.

Your thoughts were probably the same as mine when I first saw the kit ... " How the bloody hell am I going to solder those tiny comonents " :eek:

Mine went together a lot quicker than expected & were no trouble to solder, to be honest, it was a relaxing way to spend an evening :)

You done a nice tidy job there mate :cool:

guys i keep hearing the words surface mount components appear
when referring to megajolt
could somebody take the time to enlighten me as to what this is all about
i take it is different to something that is presumbly normal

A lot of the more traditional electronic components have pins the pass through the the board & are usually soldered from underneath.

Surface mounted components are soldered directly to pads on the surface of the board.
This allows for the better use of the more modern, multi-layer boards

Components are quite often very small in size .......In fact can be very tiny :eek:
