Aluminium Steering Rack Mounts

I'm trying to put the steering rack mounts onto my steering rack. The smaller mount went on no problem. However the larger one is really tight up against the steering rack and looks like its going to require a bit of force to get it to sit properly in place.

Have other people had this problem?

Is it ok to file down the mount slightly to allow it to fit on?

Exactly what I had to do. Think it's quite common. I also had to add extra packing under the plastic spacers to take up the slop.

Cheers

Try a little bit of washing up liquid and use the bolts to pull it hard up.

Yep same here, it was a tight fit. I don't see that a bit of a fettle with a file should make any real difference. Don't forget your plastic spacers underneath.

I too had this problem, a few strokes of a file sorted it, but don,t go mad on removing metal, it does need to be a "snug" fit .

My rack and brackets arrived today - exactly the same. Squeezed the bigger one on with the vice.
