Mx5 steering column
 
Took the steering column off the donor the other day and at the end of the upper part its got a large bracket what have people done with this as is wont fit on the roadster with it on

There are 2 brackets. The one nearest the universal joint needs to be chopped off. The other one is used to secure it. Are you using the saturn version? Also I would measure the length of the column as I am on my third! They seem to get damaged easily when they are removed. I used a hammer to tap my first one in place and it shortened which meant I couldn't get the steering wheel on with the stalks.

I think there will be photos on my flickr page. I haven't chopped off the bottom bracket of my new column yet.
