exciting alternators
 
Hi Everyone could someone confirm if i am right here please i have wired my alternator in (Pinto engine) which is working fine, but i would like a light in to excite it. Am i right in thinking this is inline with the ignition power wire or am i completely off the mark

Thanks for that lol :p I am sorted now worked out you need live both sides one from ign the other to wire 3 on the alternator

You may find that it will keep the engine running after the ign is off,has been mentioned on here previously,and after 40 odd years in the motor trade alternators do nothing for me except cause problems :rolleyes:
