What steel are the rack extensions made from?

Hi guys, time for my next dull question. Is mild steel good enough to make the steering rack extensions from? I may be able to get stainless or silver steel if necessary.

Just to explain, i have to make my own bespoke ones as I'm using a BMW steering rack and my roadster is 4" wider than standard.

Thanks!

Sam

Hi Sam

I would imagine that bright mild steel will be fine for the rack extensions :)

Plenty about made of alloy too, probably need the right grade though ;)

cool, I just spoke to our machine shop and they're going to get their apprentice to make them up out of bright mild steel as an excercise - result! :D :D :D
