Aluminium sheet

i'm coming to the stage where i need to buy the aluminium (when money allows).

what sort of price have people paid as i'm not sure on what is a good price?
I have plently of 1-2mm steel off-cuts in work enough to do the tranny tunnel sides, would this be too heavy for the sides of the car do you think???

any help is good help

Cheers

If your tight for funds or on a budget use 1mm steel for the sides, tunel, back etc and 2mm for the floor(s). As for weight I would'nt worry as the average passenger weighs 60-80kg and you can always fit a bigger engine. Besides a little extra weight is not always a bad idea as it will put some much needed heat in the tyres.

And what do you use for floor, tunnel, back etc, if you're not on a budget ?

i've managed to do the top of the tranny tunnel, the floor (but i had to add an extra 125mm but when your on a budget who cares), and the piece infont of the scuttle out of 2mm (its what we had left over from building 3D bombing targets), and i have enough for the sides of the tranny tunnel too. to top it off i may aswell go the whole hog and "Galv" it to make it nice and heavy:D
