Headlights
I have some really nice headlights from Staffordshire vehicle components.
I have fitted them finger tight and wired them in. My question is how do I tighten them? I cannot get a socket on due to the wire ans can't use a spanner as the nut is recessed.... Confused.com Thanks David |
Box or Tube spanner, removing wires and socket after setting lights to where you want them.

As above or cut a slot with grinder out of socket and put the wires in the slot,or put wires through hole in socket and use molegrips or the like.

Johno and Tatey had a discussion about that, and there are some pictures of the "home made" socket:

I may be way of as i am no where near lights etc yet but my thoughts are to fit the bowls first then wire them in.

My solution, as eluded to in that thread, is to drill a hole in the thread and exit the wires just below the top mount and into my mount tube. the thread then continues down and out of a lower plate at the base of the headlamp mount and that can easily have the nut done up with a spanner ( and the wires are fully hidden ) .
The big advantage is that the lights can be adjusted without disturbing the wiring ( IVA Bonus! ) if the mounting bolt also acts as the adjuster clamp like mine. TT |
Make a little tubular spacer that puts the nut below the bracket.cable gland over the cable/nut for iva.job done and easy to get an open ended spanner on to adjust.
