Parts

Hi Just staring a build. Not experienced enough to risk some of the suspension components. Are there any places you can buy then prefabricated. Also any other parts store's that would be helpful.

Thanks

Afternoon Steve

I think best place is probably Ebay as most of the one of people have disappeared.

I see on there at the minute a guy selling wishbones etc what running gear are you using?

Hoping to use an mx5 but that is proving difficult to find one at a sensible price. I think the book needs updating with a more modern donor.

I was looking at mx5’s for the Mrs couldn’t believe the price of doggy ones ! She ended up with a TT

And thats suitable? Interesting. I have also looked at BMW 3 series.

Yea the TT was just a hack about midlife crisis i reckon, just thought MX5 would of been less hassle to work on and repairs as i had already stripped one down

Hi when the book came out it was based on ford escort, cortina etc they were cheap and plentiful, then they became rare and expensive.
Saturn made alterations to suit Mazda mx5 because they were cheap and plentiful, but now they are going the same way as the fords.

You can use just about anything if you can work out how to alter the chassis.
If you go down the parts route you can get all the parts you need for mx5 on EBay etc but you will have to settle for a Q plate.
Regards Mick.

It's more the suspension components and shock specifications pedal box fuel tank and so on as I am only new welder and I confident on the chassis side but would like to play it safe with the rest.

Hi there is a place on eBay that are advertising wishbones made to your own spec.
You could really do with Phil from Talon he was the best for anything welding but he no longer does it which is a shame.
As for shocks and springs etc check the posts on here like Stot And many others.
Regards Mick.
