Difference between disc and drum uprights
Hi guys,
Just a guick one, whats the difference between disc and drum rear uprights? The reason im asking is because iv got rear drums but i believe the driveshafts may be of the disc variant because they have a lip which doesnt allow them to pass through the sierra hub carrier, if you know what i mean. Forgive me if im talking bollocks but im sure i was told that the lip was only pressent on the disc sort. Im just curious and i dont want to buy the wrong set of uprights. Thanks Nathan |
Does the shaft bolt onto a drive flange on the back of the hub? and does it have bolts at the diff end or a splined shaft.

the shaft has splines at diff end and the four bolted carrier slides over it and bolts to the siera swingarm thingimijig. the lip was slightly bigger than the hole in the swingarm so i had to remove the hubs to get the shafts out backwards towards the diff, if that makes sense? |
Bearing carrier for drums has only four holes, disc one has six, four to bolt it to the upright and two for the caliper.
I have two drum setups and both shafts push through carriers and drive flange slides onto splines on the outer end of the shaft. |
Never had a problem with a drum shaft removal... just slide through. and your pics are of a drum setup.
