Zetec to mt75 gearbox Starter problem?

Hi All

I have a Zetec 2l Black top engine and and mt75 Rear wheel gearbox,

Long story:
One sits in one shed and the other sits in another!!

Well my problem is,.....

When looking at the engine from the front of the engine the Starter motor is on the left hand side,...but the starter in the gearbox is on the right

What do people do to make these work together???

Thanks

Mike

im not 100% sure so dont take my word on it but i think people use the cvh starter motor.

Ash is correct, you need to use the starter from the 1800 cvh engine. They are not easy to find on their own but Lucas LRS707 is the same. I've just ordered a new one for mine from:

http://www.forge-services.co.uk/acatalog/LRS.html

You'll need to grind quite of bit off the Zetec Blacktop sump to fit it unless you are planning on changing the sump anyway, the cvh sump also fits by moving the bolt holes slightly and is easier to shorten being steel rather than ali.

Ashg /Andy,

Just one more question,...

What fly wheel and cluch are you using?

As i have the 2l zetec fly wheel ,pressure plate, and plate!

and also the 2l dohc 8v fly wheel ,pressure plate, and plate!

will any of this be any good to use?

Thanks

Mike

Not sure about the dohc flywheel and clutch but i used the 1.8cvh with the addition of a new spigot bearing but that was onto the type 9 gearbox, cvh has a lighter flywheel but you loose the timing wheel which you can attach to the front pulley wheel.

If in doubt try the locost forum, i got some good advice from there.

We have [continental cars] the same problem but at the other side.
Find the starter motor the rest will fit.
Cut a bit of the aluminum part of the oil pan [not oil involved at that area] and that is solved.
Visit some sites with Westfield Build and you will see.

This is a picture of the 3D Zetec watch the area that you need to cut.

Other options are the RS2000 ally bell housing (this has a starter hole on both sides) on a type 9 with a Zetec 1800 flywheel and a CVH starter motor
