Possible show day at haynes museum ?

I am just about to start building my roadster, and it suddenly came to me that I am making a huge investment into something that I have not seen in the flesh, and that I dont even know what they drive like. So with this in mind, I went to the haynes museum to have a look at one, but there wasnt one on display. So with interest gathering in the roadster, I was wondering if a show day could be organised at the museum, in order to help people like myself, know exactly what we are letting ourselves in for. Maybe a few trade stands, or why not form your own car club ? I think that this would go down a treat, maybe even have an anual drive ?

Hi Jason .I think thats a great idea. I'm on the last lap in my build and I've never seen a Haynes /7/ Locost/ Westfield whatever at close range let alone sat in one- only seen them whizzing past
However, the rule of suggesting good ideas is " Thats great -go ahead and organise it ,we're with you";)

Anyway where is the Haynes museum?

It must be easier for you to see one at Stoneleigh or Newark kit car shows? I think its a bit much for a bunch of owners to drive for 6 hours from the North East to get to the museum in Somerset, to show you a car. Bear in mind that the owners would have to foot the cost for this entire event, fuel, hotels, planning, trade stands etc.
Why don't you say where you are in the UK and see if anyone wants to show you their car?

That would be a great idea

Maybe even if some of the completed cars could be loaned to the museum to be shown maybe a month each after all we all at least owe haynes the use of our cars as a thank you for publishing the book mine would be available once I finish it

I just thought that it would be a great day for everybody to meet up, chew the fat, and may be encourage new people into the scene. Not to mention, their racing track will be open again soon! I live in GLoucester, and would be willing to travel to an avent like this, I suggested the haynes museum, as its the haynes roadster, I thought that people would make the same assumption as me, and think that they would have one. It would be good to put faces to names as well !

So is there any reason that your not going to the Donington kit car show which is more your way than say the Haynes museum, seeing as it is a little more central to the whole country, next to the M1, has a camping area and the locost 750 MC race event on the same weekend ?
