Crank case breather issue
 

Anybody read last months issue of kit car ? There was an article in the back about people who build kit cars doing away with the standard air box, resulting in higher crank case pressure, and possible engine failure. The article looked into different options including crank
Case bolt on filters e.t.c. and decided that the very best option to reduce crank case pressure was to retain the original factory fitted air box. Space is obviously a huge issue with the 7, but I was wondering what everybody else were doing, as an after market air filter is usually the preferred choice. :confused:

It's a lot worse on Turbo cars.

just make a fitting between the crank breather pipe and the air intake.

i don't see why so many people do away with crankcase proper crankcase ventilation.

its not hard to fit and is quiet important for the life and running of your engine and you can even gain an odd hp if you get it right or louse a few by getting it wrong (glass half full and all that)

best invention for the long life of an engine was a thing called a PCV valve
it basically lets a small amount of gas from the lower crankcase bleed into the inlet under vacuum conditions (anywhere below full throttle) and the top half has a filtered vent to allow clean air in.
this way you get all them things you don't want messing your oil up out (moisture,acid,dirt,unburnt fuel and so on)
no catch tank needed no oil escape

i have my itb setup useing a PCV valve and it works fine just had to make a manifold to join it all up to the orignal zetec stuff
