Exhaust Manifold

What's the general consensus for getting a decent exhaust header for a Haynes? I'm not desperate for one, but the one I've modified off the RS2000 isn't ideal. I'm at the point of cutting a hole in the bodywork for it and would be awfully upset if I make the hole and find a better manifold with an alternative path through the bodywork!

I made one, its definetly an expencive way of doing it but the finished result is spectacular even if i do say so myself and you can make it go were ever you want it to.

Hello Deezee,

Having an RS2000 manifold i guess you have the CVH engine, if you have a look at the pics i used a manifold off a Focus ST170 with pipes extended to bring manifold out of bonnet and the outlet modifying slightly to fit down side of car onto back box, gives you a good high flow exhaust that you can then put onto a Zetec. You can get these for about £100 off e-bay. The RS2000 is design to use with a turbo so doesn't matter too much for free air flow.

Lot better than having a full exhaust made up for £600.

Spud i think you have had a senior moment and got the rs2000 which is a 2litre twincam mixed up with an rs turbo which is a 1.6turbo cvh :p

The st170 is a good choice to make a free flowing manifold though

Yes you're right there mark, but "1 out of 2 ain't bad" or was that 2 out of 3.....

Yeah the RS2000 manifold is a 4-2-1 and I was thinking about what you did Spud, but wanted to keep the manifold on the inside for aesthetics, with just the 2 pipe section coming out.

I can see this being a real thorn in my side. I'm keeping an eye out for other decent manifolds for RWD use and trying to modify them to fit.

I've seen a 4 into 1 kit to make your own exhaust manifold on EBay, you get everything you need to make your own, just weld together.

One on ebay seems ok for the 99quid +10 postage.

this is the link to it.
