Cheers mark. I've already ground the sump, thinking i'd make the pinto one fit, but didn't succeed.
It the cvh one a smaller diamater? And is there only one type for the 1.8 cvh? Don't want to end up with the wrong one again. Already got 2 useless ones

You're not, you're just keeping it spinning the same way as it's designed to work. If you removed the powersteering pump then just put a belt round the pullies that are left, it would spin the wrong way - putting an idler pulley in solves the problem.
