You'd have to incorporate crush tubes into the box section. Combine it with slots for adjustment, and it does not sound so easy at all. The alternative is to cut the tubes open and clamp to a single wall of the box section.
An alternative is to fill in the triangular sides, as Mopple has designed in his chassis Solidworks model:

The drawback of this approach is slightly impeded access to the clamp nuts.
Mopple's design is folded out of a single laser cut piece of 3 mm plate, if I recall correctly.
