I too fitted the Polo rad on my car, it is fitted forward of the front frame & like you say the bottom hose is a snug fit but does go,my fan is attached to the rad between the rad & front frame & fitted so the upper hose is above the top of the front frame & still leaves plenty of clearance between the top of the rad & the nose cone .
Creates plenty of space between the rad & front of the engine, tho i must admit I,ve fitted my expansion tank on the Scuttle bulkhead to get it as high as possible .
