Default I havent started!

Morning,

I thought I would introduce my self before posting and replying, I have not built a roadster or any kit car yet, but have had to maintain cars on a budget for the last 20 years, yes that makes me 37ish. I am a Plant Operator in the Royal Engineers.

I have been dying to build a car of my own for years, I kind of started 4 years ago on a Pilgrim Cobra. I got the build manual and came by a 3.5l Range Rover but the cost of things was inhibitive. Then I seriously looked at a Robin Hood but again it required an initial out lay and I don't have £1000s laying around. Then, I was in Halfords and picked up Chris' book (the 08 version) and read it cover to cover, then found the forum, just fantastic. Of all the forums I have read, it is the least bitchy and picky, people just ask a question and get a considered answer, as opposed to some of the Landrover forums I have frequented in the past.

I am working on the, cost, quality, time, triangle. ie, if I want quality and it to be cheap then it will take time as opposed to doing it really quickly and cheaply and loosing the quality. Also the Army has this habit of sending me off to allsorts of places for extended periods of time, so the build could take years not months.

The caviats from the wife are, 2 of the 3 bikes must go, which is good as it should raise some funds for steel (a CBR600 track bike not finished but running and a 50cc scooter) and a Rover 200 that I repaired to sell, has to be MOT'd and sold, which again is a good thing.

I am really keen to find a member that is building or has built a Haynes Roadster, someone I could go and speak with over a brew, I live in Tidworth about 5 miles from Andover and 13 miles from Salisbury.

Well thanks for your time.

Ginge
