It looks like you can get some deals on aftermarket exhausts on the net.
I've been digging around a little and the majority of people seem to be happy with them on a car build.

So if I go this route I have a few questions..

Q1, What size bike exhaust to suit 1.6 MX5 (been looking at Yamaha R1 cans).
Q2, Noise levels (street legal or race options readily available on a lot of exhausts).
Q3, Material. Stainless is the obvious contender but have heard the carbon exhausts do not get so hot on the outside (good for passenger).
Q4, Flow rate. Where does a bike can loose out in this area i.e. loss of back pressure for car engine etc..

Here's a link for Pipewerx.com as an example

The best value bike cans I have seen are manufactured by a company in medolmsley road consett. Near the home of the tortilla chip.

Skov has used one on his car. And they sell them on ebay.

Saturn MX5 Based Chassis, Limited Slip Diff & 2.4 Quick Rack.

Build cost.... seems to be spending more on tools than car bits at the moment! (they will be handy in the future though).
Car iva'd and passed 15/08/2014. Finished weight 572kg.
