I'm also using a zx9r install, doesen't seem to matter where i have the pump positioned doing test runs it seems to deliver plenty of fuel. I would suspect you have a dodgy pump mate. I believe you can use the pump from any four cylinder carb fed bike engine of around the same capacity, they're all mitsibushi i believe.
