Default Carbs v throttle bodies

Hi all, I am going to be using a 1.8 pinto with a type 9 gearbox, think its' time to think about how im going to get the brum brum juice into the engine so I can have some internal bangs. So my question is what are the pros and cons of throttle bodies against twin webbers all thoughts welcomed. Oh and started the day off well by winning a sierra diff and drive shafts on the bay for £30

Fuel injection over carburettors is improved fuel economy, emissions and smoother running through rev ranges for the fuel injection. Fuel injection also doesn't need balancing or tweaking every year.

Twin 40-50 webbers are old school and make a very nice noise but have a habbit of unsetting them selfs by way of vibrations and jolts which you could have alot of in a 7. Can be cheap if you can find a second hand set and buy a refurb kit, be prepered to tow a small fuel bowser though as they be thirsty. They can be used with the pinto dizzy which will save some cash.

Throttle bodies are basicly injected webbers and they tend not to be cheap brand new. Good way to make power using 3d mega squirt which would make the most of them but wether it's worth bolting them to a 40 year engine design is debatable. I've seen old webbers converted with injector ports to act as throttle bodies which may be a cheaper option.

Bike carbs are a cheap way to go with most having 38-40 chokes same as twin webbers and be had on ebay from £40 upwards. Most places with rolling roads are set up to tune car engines with bike carbs, again you could use the pinto dizzy.

If your able to fabricate you own manifold you could make a slimer injection system and make a plenum with a throttle body at one end. I think what it comes down to is how much do you want to spend and how often do want to play with or fix it.

Would I have to source throttle bodies from a minimum bike engine size to suit the pinto and if so what would the minimum cc bike I would need for a 1.8

I'm not too sure about choke sizes for different makes and models but 750 upwards would look favourable. Found this manifold and carb set up with a 2 minute search of ebay.

just leave the standard carb on it. not worth spending the money on a pinto tbh. my pinto made a bit more power with bike carbs but its still slow.

throw the pinto away and put a zetec or something more modern in it.

the money you will spend getting bike carbs or tb's setup will easly pay for a used zetec with ecu etc.

Going to stick with my pinto, bit of an oldfashioned guy, has anybody tried fitting bike carbs and if so where there any difficulties. Collected my diff on Sunday and was talking to the guy selling it and he said that he was running a Robinhood on bike carbs.
