Default Engine number

Hi all does anyone have a website address or a contact number that I can try in order to identify my pinto engine. It was taken out of a Cobra kit about 18 months ago but the guy cant remember much about the car as he did an engine swap for someone else. I have found the number but the last digit is hard to read and in the Haynes manual for a Sierra it say that it should have either REN or RED stamped on the rear flange that the bellhousing bolts too but on this one there is only RE. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated
