So cool! I wonder if the CNC lathe can do an offset mushroom in one go :-)

The mill will be able to do them in one go then. The lathe would need to feed the X axis back and forth in time with the speed of the spindle to be able to do them which I would think is unlikely but would be fun to watch if it can!

Cheers

Once you get into cnc programming you'll love it, I used to use a Harrison 454 lathe with a Fanuc OT controller. The amount of jimmy jobs I did on that was unreal

I must be honest though, I'd avoid the XYZ mill like the plague.

we have one metal lathe at the school, un-used for 2.5 years since new! we used to have 10 in the old building, a 20 when I was a pupil at my school!

What does that tell you about the state of manufacturing skills in the UK...

I am going to make use of the sole machine, if I can work out how the f..k to make it run as I spent 20 mins unable to find the spindle start button , there was a Jog, stop, brake , etc.. but no obvious start

My lathe has a lever to the lower right on the apron for normal running. Down for run and up for reverse. Could be the same?

edit: The red knobbed lever to the right of this picture.

But it works the other way round on Chinese machines, up on this is forward, also you have to pull it to the left to disengage a dowel which prevents you from accidentally operating it.
