Engine Heater Hose - Help
I am using the Cologne V6 2.8I Engine.
I have removed the heater matrix from the orginal Sierra and and I have linked the flow and return hoses. Is it likely to cause any harm to the engine if I remove this link hose and cap it off with an ali plug on the top and bottom of the engine? I assume its just a secondary hose off the radiator circuit, although it does not appear to run via the thermostat. Any help appeciated as the exisiting pipe is to near the braided fuel lines and I would like to remove it this weekend in preparation for the first test drive!

should be fine without it. blocked them off on the pinto without adverse effects. the only reason it bypasses the thermostat is so that the heater in the car works before the thermostat opens up. have also blocked it off on the new engine.

The heating is controlled by a valve, so when the heater is off the flow is blocked.

find out how the orignal cars heater matrix was controled (air flap or valve)
some require flow all the time trough the matrix to get the same cooling(ballanced) to all the cyl's the way i would do it and works is block off if it has a valve controling the coolent flow if not link the input to the output and place somthing simple like a washer or thiner pipe to ristrict the flow to simulate the matrix's flow rate thinking about it this would work for both types and would remove the risk of air pockets |

Sierras have flow through the matrix all the time, so when someone says " Make sure you have the heating on hot when filling the system" it's not going to make a blind bit of difference. TT

I just ran a simple 16mm hose between pump and inlet manifold adaptor, no restrictor needed, the only thing I added was a bleed T
