Question Donor car

I've just started to plan to build a Lowcost. What is the best donor car to use that's reasonably up to date?

Sierra's and Escorts are long discontinued.

Thanks,

John

Are you going to build a Locost or a Haynes roadster,

Locost was based on Escort MK2 / Cortina

Roadster was based on the Sierra.

MX5 and BMW 3 Series have been used as donors for the roadster.
