Hodgsons Progress
well guys, we had good progress this week considering the amount of time we spent on them, Its been a week since we decided to build, we have spent dinners and break times all week marking the jigs, cutting steel and basicly trying to get our heads round the amendments for the mx5!!!
we had all saturday on them and got 1 chassis off the jig table and and ready to be welded, even the transmission tunnel and rear end is built and on the chassis, Johno was well chuffed with his back end, which was mm perfect!!!, (i had to completely rebuild transmission tunnel after i built it out of 25x25SHS and not 19x19SHS as it CLEARLY STATES IN BOOK!!!) chassis number 2 is already cut and half tacked up, supprising what you can do with 3 people in 10 hours, would of been 4people but luke was picking his donor car up, Which looks a good car for £350 also noticing these cars aren't designed for 6ft people who drink and eat to much are they!!! been plenty of ribbing going on that i may not fit and may have to build a wider one!!! heres a link to a couple pictures get some more on here soon regards simon, johno, luke, tony http://s1125.photobucket.com/albums/l587/hodgson10/ |

I dont think there are issues with fitting in the cockpit. its just a matter if friggin with seat combinations. Someone pointed out that if you dont go for a bucket seat and use a flat squab you can then pad the gear tunnel + side panel, thats a few valuable inches.

Nice one guys , chassis looking great
Don,t worry about the height of the driver ( spud is 6ft 7in tall ) , tho "girth" is always a little on the snug side .....but then ....I,m a skinny un so I rattle around a bit in the cockpit . Keep up the great progress you,re making & keep the build piccies coming You,ll soon be going " brum brum" in all 4 chassis,s. cheers andy

My biggest concern in terms of fitting was the pedal box because I have size 13 feet. But that seems OK too when I tried it out. Last edited by PorkChop : 11th September 2011 at 10:43 AM. |

You should strap the chassis to the pump truck and go for a drive
