Default MX5 Engine bay fuse box

Afternoon guys. Been a little busy lately, so progress has slowed a little on the build, but im starting to run the 'veins and arteries' of the car. Now the Loom doesn't scare me too much, but I have a question regarding the engine bay fuse/relay box.

Can the main fuses and relays be fitted 'outside' of the box to make the engine bay look a little neater (i.e. on the ali bulkhead)? or has everyone else mounted the original fuse box in the engine bay?

I don't see why not?

I decided to replace the original fuses and relays and stuck the new ones under the dash out of sight (quite an old photo, I've since wrapped all the wiring):

I then made a padded cover to keep IVA man happy:

IS that the MX5 loom?

am I right in saying the top row are relays, the bottom row fuses?

Yep, that's right.

It started off as an MX5 loom, but I did end up replacing quite a lot of it!

did you just replace the main fuse, head fuse etc (the big ones in the engine bay) with standard blade fuses?

Have you actually used the car with this setup?

Ah, forgot about the main fuse. I replaced that with a 100A fuse next to the battery.
Everything else uses a blade fuse under the dash.

I've driven over 1000 miles so far...
Only 50 or so were in the dark with the headlights on though.
