Default Total weight of the car

I was weighting our car during this weekend and it turned out it has 700kg (1540lbs). It was quite a surprise for me because I was counting that it will be around 500kg (1100lbs). What is your weight of the car?

Mine through SVA at 512kg with a Toyota 4AGE engine.

Personally, I think that says more about the accuracy of their weighing than the featherweight build I created!

hm that is a very good weight, we have made it exactly according to the book with 2 mm chassis tubes and the weight is almost 200kg more, we used M42B BMW engine 1.8L but I doubt that this is the reason...

lol, just make sure you dont give them to someone who has or think they have a weight problem, or to the wife or you risk sleeping in the car

I worked this out in AutoCAD once over on locost.... cos I'm dull. The difference in using 1.5mm box section versus 2mm box section is something like 13kgs. So the weight issue isn't in the box section.

I'd imagine the differences are to do with the likes of seats/interior trim, cooling system, gearbox/engine, windscreen and any weight saving by using non donor hubs, calipers, bellhousing, alloy wheels etc
