missing engine number

I've been looking for the engine number on the block of the engine that I want to use in my build tonight but unfortunately i can't find it

I'm 95% sure that it isn't there (been eaten by the weather!)

The problem is what do i do now as i can't change the V5 on the doner to this number if it doesn't exist?
