Tunnel width for mx5 gearbox

Does anyone know if the width of the tunnel needs changing for mx5 gearbox?


I came up with a plan for the 2.0 Duratec. Right as you will probably know its a mazda engine... so it got me thinking will the mx5 gearbox fit it??

So after a bit of seaching on ebay it looks to be a similar shaped bolt pattern for mx5 gearbox and the gearboxes that fit the duratec. I have not been able to get any measurements but it was just an idea at the moment.
