Aftermarket steering wheel
Hi, can anyone help?, I want to fit an old Mountney steering wheel to my Roadster but I can`t find anywhere to buy a boss to suit my Sierra column. There are plenty for the new Mountney M style wheels but these have a different size hole setup in the centre of the wheel, mine has the hole centres 100mm apart and a 90mm big hole in the centre.
Failing this does anyone have a wheel/boss combination that will fit? Thanks, Dennis

You could pick up an old Sierra wheel and get creative with it. You would need a lathe but you can make a boss by just using the centre part of the sierra wheel, which will allow the steering lock to still work.

My aftermarket boss works with my sterring lock.
Remember when choosing a wheel that MR IVA man hates anything that did not grace a recent type approved production car. So IVA with a sierra wheel and then fit something a little nicer after The MAn says yes. TT

The steering lock still works on mine too, it also uses the sierra horn ring, it just clips into the new boss easy peasy

Enjoy that first drive out, i know i did
You feel so chuffed when you get out on the open road and think i built this! I dropped mine off to be rolling road tuned yesterday and it was raining but i had no choice if i wanted to make my appointment The car stays supprisingly dry inside if you keep the speed up but it stings your face after a while! |

Have you got your car back yet Mark? Missed a hell of a blast back from Penrith on Sunday, drive there was a bit sedate with 8 other gentleman drivers in the pack but return was exhilarating to say the very least..... A black MK ZX14r equipped and an aftermarket supercharged Lotus Elise...... a makes it all worthwhile. I would pay good money for them to close the road from Penrith up to Hartside Pass for time trials. There is some sort of a car show on at Preston Park might be going to on Sunday as we are not camping now this weekend. AndyH

No havnt got car back yet as mark is very busy at the moment
He is going to try and get it done for me by the weekend but it will depend if he has the correct jets in stock and how he gets on writing me a new ignition map. The cvh map that seems to be doing the rounds on the forums actually stops at 4700rpm, which obviously isnt high enough Dont think he will have a problem though, as you well know he is a very clever bloke and is good at what he does |
