size of gap between bellhousing & chassis
how much of a gap would i idealy need to have between my bellhousing and u7? at the moment i have about 10mm will this be enough to allow for engine movement?

thanks for your reply Adrian. my engine is going to have 2 anti roll drop links in to try to reduce the movement but there will still be some. Ill try and aim to for 25mm. time to chop my chassis again .....
As for tt5, ive had to remove it for now (made it too hard to manover the engine about) |

25mm is pretty generous for an engine with stiff mounting rubber such as the Land Rover type. I would like a bit more that 10mm, but if that was all I could have I wouldn't worry about it.

on my own build, the space I have is about 25mm, this is more to do with as Adrian has said, the position of the gearstick to TT5 & also the combination of where the reverse light switch is in relation to TT4 & also keeping a close eye on the clutch release arm too, so it more or less finds its own spacing in the chassis when you take into account of the 3 points as above.
I,ve used the 1.8CVH engine & Type 9 box. Dan -G8, I,m not sure which engine / box combination you are using so its not easy to give a definitive answer. cheers andy
