D1 D2 D3 & D4
The diagonal chassis tubes mentioned in the title are thinner box section than the other chassis tubes (as you will know).
Just wondering, do i line them up central with the 25mm box or flush with the outer edge of the chassis? Also should i weld the uprights first before fitting them? They're only tacked at the moment, and i might have to grind the tacks back a bit to give enough room for the diagonals. Cheers Dave P.S. I've just updated my build blog if anyone's interested in having a look at a few pics. http://davesroadster.blogspot.com/

Flush with the outer edge.
And yes, I would fully weld the uprights before fitting them

Hi David (17),
Just had a look at your build site diary....looking great, making some nice progress there , glad to see you got the genny sorted I hope you don,t mind me saying, but from the angle of the photo it looks like you have placed part U7 in the wrong place, it needs to be 155mm from the center line of the chassis as in diagram 4.8 on page 38, good luck with the rest of your build cheers andy

Think you might be right there. I'll have to check my measurements.
Thanks for the help.

He's usually right Really irritating
Only joking Andy, you are a true legend. Annoying that you were right about my headlamp mounts though Enoch |

Yep he was right
I'd done both uprights the same distance from the center, luckily it was only tacked. Got that sorted, tacked the diagonals mentioned in the title and started fully welding the chassis then ran out of wire.

Bugger. I've done the same thing. Good job I looked at this post today. I'll shift it tomorrow.

D1 and D2. The book shows them as angled and it looks as if the left hand side one is rotated clockwise (from The rear) slightly. I would have expected it to be the other way to support the side panels. Can anyone clarify please?
