Newbie Here
Just thought it only polite to introduce myself as I'm new to the forum.
I had a Dutton Phaeton and a VW Beach Buggy that I didn't build myself many, many years ago and ever since then I promised myself that one day, finances permitting I'd have a go at building something myself. The plan has always been for a Seven style car. I live down the road from Westfield but still can't warrant buying the different packs and would rather buy or scrounge/make a little bit at a time starting with just the chassis and going from there. I pretty much narrowed it down to a Tiger Avon, but still had an original copy of Ron Champions book, and someone pointed me at the Haynes Roadster and this forum. I joined yesterday, had a good read of different peoples posts and then contacted Handy Andy regarding a chassis kit (excellent info and advice by the way, thanks Andy). My welding skills are not the best but my mate has built a few Land Rover Specials in the past, so the idea is to start a build this summer using Ford power, maybe CVH first and then Zetec later, take my time and aim to have it done in maybe 12 months which should spread the cost out and not cause too much hassle with the wife. I'll be asking loads of questions on here and hopefully won't annoy too many people. Cheers, Dave |

Well I'll be the first to say - welcome to the forum!
I've heard great things about Andy's chassis kits, and having met him in person i can tell you he's a top feller too. When I started, I thought it would take approx 18 months, 2 years at the most to complete the build, well I'm nearly finished now, and I started it in April 2008, I'll let you do the math. Good luck with your project - and on this forum there is no such thing as a stupid question, so go ahead and ask. All the best Sam.

Welcome to the forum, I have met Andy a few times now and he is a very helpful chap
Set yourself a goal to get the car done. not a goal to get it done by XX/XX/XX , just a goal to get it done... It can take 6 months, 16, 26.... Whatever. Then just work on it when you can, that way you wont feel you slipping behind and get disheartened. And if you get stuck somewhere, take a break or move on and come back at a later date with a fresh mind. TT
