Default How the hell?!??!

Are caterham getting 263bhp from a ford 2.0l duratec engine, granted it revs to 8500rpm but still seems unbelievable!

Naturally aspirated it must be quite a compramise and not gr8 as a daily car. If it's blown then yeah not a problem.

Easy throw lots of R&D and money at it,companies like that don't just bolt on an after market mega squirt at a 12yr old zetec. Consider this though 2.0 zetec out of the factory 130-137bhp in a Mondeo compared to a Honda 1.6 that puts out 220+ straight out of the box?

Duratec can be tuned to 300bhp no trouble, see link for some info on Duratec & Zetec engines. Need a fat wallet though!!

Yes it's NA and has VVT but the only commonality between it and a ford duratec standard engine must be the aluminium block and liners. It must have a dry sump, wild cam, forged and lightened internals, 11-12:1 increased CR, aftermarket management, ITB's. I guess that's why an R500 costs 40k! They spent 30k producing the engine!
