sorry should have said it is a pinto 2 lt engine, no fancy stuff ie ecu or anything like that hope this helps this engine has points

meant to say also that on the solenoid there are 2 pillars and 2 spade terms can someone tell me what these are for please the large one is for the batt cable and the alt cable

Where did the engine come from? what connections are on the DIZZY?

can you get a pic of the solenoid?

If the engine has points then there should be a condensor unit on the outside of the dizzy and a wire , this goes to the coil -VE.

ok starter solonoid will have 2 big studs 1 in for the fat + cable from bat and one out that should still be conected to a short link to the motor.
then there is a smaller stud or terminal that works the solonoid its possible the extra one is linked to this
