Angry IMPORTANT - Compulsory Insurance will affect us builders!

From today the government has changed the law, meaning that all cars, whether in use or not must be insured. Have a look, this is no joke:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/12614090

So if you buy a donor, you will have to insure it whilst it's being stripped, till it's finally scrapped, or face a £100 fine.

If like some builders here, you have several car projects on the go, you will now have to insure ALL OF THEM - even though your not driving them.

How on earth did they sneak this through????

Makes me glad my Locost is being built for track use only, I'll NEVER register it, beacuse I don't have to. Then they'll never know it exists and I'll never get a fine.

"Drivers will face a £100 fine and potentially have their car seized and destroyed, unless the vehicle is certified as off the road. " i guess they mean SORN in that case its not too bad. Otherwise it would just be too extreme.

EDIT: LOL you beat me to it!

Only cars with current road tax need to be insured, if its on SORN it doesn't need to be insured. Don't forget if you buy a donor to SORN it immediately, even if it is already on SORN.

For the consolation - in Poland all registered cars, whether in use or not must be insured and there is no SORN or something. You have car - you have to pay. Unless it's officially scrapped or sold abroad
