Default Prop shaft modification with MT75 box

Hi All
I am in need of some advise on the above. The way the arrangement was with the donner car there were 3 UJ and the sliding spline in the middle, also the the rubber coupling donaught next to the gear box.

My question is the sliding spline still need to be there or the rubber coupling with one UJ would be suffice for the new set up.

Best speak to a prop specialist Axle, the sliding part is needed on a car to allow axle movement and on the roadster there is none.
The Propman has been on the forum and people speak highly of his work.

Hi

I'm no expert, but IMO even though there's no movement in the diff, the engine and gearbox move a bit on their mountings so I think the splined joint is still needed. If it wasn't there you would be putting a lot of end load into the gearbox output shaft. The same applies if you were even a couple of mm out in specifying the length of the shaft.

I'm pretty sure that Westfields have sliding joints on their shafts - http://www.westfieldbuild.net/propshaft.php.

Hi Matt
What you suggested is making perfect sense, thanks for all your efforts. Looking at the pictures on the link you have sent looks like the rubber donaught coupling is not suffice to compensate for this movement!!! Any other comments and ideas much appreciated.
