Looking to take my chassis to someone to check.

Hi all im thinking of taking my chassis to someone to check over and install the suspension brackets. So just wanted to check if any of you guys have done the same thing and if so who did you take it to?

We have done a few up here Eternal and also have the jigs to fit the suspension brackets, but it is a bit far to come. Sure there will be someone local.

Well i dont mind making a trip out of it. As its not a standard length +5.5" engine bay stretch i belive the uprights where the front suspension join are in the correct location. The problem i have is with this new house i only have a very limited amount of space and my workbench has now gone. So want to get the chassis on wheels and on the floor asap. Atm its leaning against the wall on bricks.

Thanks for the call. Well thats one option for sure unless there is somewhere nice and close! AA route finder say sits a 6 hour 327 mile drive each way! ouch.

I posted this earlier in another reply, but it seems appropriate here as well. my chassis started out as a Locost and evolved towards a Roadster as time went on and due to donor part availability. So when it came to welding on the front brackets I was quite nervous. I bought a caster/camber gauge so that I could confirm the correct positioning of the brackets before I welded them completely. This required welding on the lower brackets, having the front arms and hubs assembled to the upper and lower brackets, then using a jig to hold the upper brackets in position. By moving the upper brackets fore and aft, I could fine tune the caster and then weld them in position.

I feel good about the money I spent on it, cause I will use it many times in the future on my car and on other cars as well. It is also one of those tools that you can loan to friends and they owe you a favor.

Just got back from Talon. Can i just say Phil is a fantastic chap and we started from 8:30am and stopped working at 9:30pm. His welding quality is superb! He really know his stuff. I would highly recommend Talon to everyone here and im looking forward to dealing with them again in the future.
Turns out my chassis is ok so thats good news. Only problem we had was my uprights for the front, upper rear brackets were 2mm wide on each side. After a few mods all ways good! Soon as i find some bushes and get some Epoxy -Mastic 121 the chassis will be rolling!
