Will a type 9 box fit a DOHC?

So, does a type nine gearbox fit onto a dohc, and if not is the MT75 a better gear box?

The MT75 is a much superior gearbox, but many prefere the ratios on the Type 9.

The type 9 can be fitted, think it needs the CVH fly and clutch though.

I do know it's physically bigger so you end up with less foot room.

I've got a Type 9 on my DOHC so it Definitely fits!

The MT75 is lighter and more advanced, but the Type 9 is considerably smaller and has far superior after market parts and upgrades available for it. Remote gear extensions, quick shifts, any number of ratios, stronger gears, aluminium housings, dog gears, sequential gears. All these are off the shelf parts for the type 9.

Err, are you sure the mt75 is lighter than the t9? I wheighed both of mine before deciding which box to use and the t9 was definately lighter, but mine has a mk2 escort rs 2 ally bellhousing not the cast iron one Ray

rs2k box will be 4spd too so no long tailcase and 5th gear set.

5spd 9 is about 34kg, theres not a lot in it with the MT.

The MT75 will take a lot more power, plenty of TurboTechnics cars and Cosworth's running 300BHP. But the BIG BHP Cossies stay with the BW T5 for RWD, in the 4x4's there's a number of peeps playing with modded Skyline Boxes.

you seem to have misunderstood, im using a t9 with rs b/housing not the rs 4speed box although the rs 4 speed is a stronger box than the t9 also when i weighed them there was enough difference to make my mind up which box to use Ray

so if I use CVH fly/clutch its a straight bolt fit job? only wondering as it seems type 9 is far cheaper than MT75

I was practicality giving away MT75's a couple of years back.. A good T9 should still be more expensive than a MT75 unless it's a V6 RWD box.
